Eigenlijk is het een beetje zotjes om te zien hoe overal ter wereld wordt uitgekeken naar die tip. Hoe "geklaagd" wordt dat de tip in Nieuw-Zeeland niet echt op maandag er is maar pas op dinsdag. En dat ze in Amerika eigenlijk moeten gaan slapen als de tip binnen komt. Ik wachtte keurig tot woensdagavond, na mijn examen, maar het forum op ravelry trok meer dan eens mijn aandacht. Toen ik het patroon las, dacht ik: 1B. Maar de foto's deden me twijfelen. Starten met een omslag leek me moeilijk maar is eigenlijk super simpel en er was een filmpje van Ysolda. Het werd dus 1A. Omdat de vorm mij intrigeerde: een driehoek waarna je de rand opneemt als start van een asymmetrische sjaal.

It's a bit crazy to see how Ysolda turns the world around. People from New-Zealand "complaining" they will only receive the clue on Thuesday instead of Monday. People in the States "complaining" they ought to go to bed but are too impatient. I waited until Wednesday evening, after my exam, but the ravelry group was a big distraction. When reading the pattern I had made made my mind up to do 1B, because those yarnovers at the beginning seemed too difficult. Ysolda provided the instructions and the spoiler pictures made me curious how a triangle with stitches picked up on the side could turn into a assymetric shawl.

Maar langzaam begon het toch ook te kriebelen om die B ook te maken. Ik overliep de mogelijkheden in mijn wolvoorraad (en het is duidelijk, er is nog wel plaats voor sokkenwol, hint?). Maar er lag ook nog mooie malabrigo lace yarn, gekocht in 2010 voor een andere KAL die nooit verder is geraakt. Ik had trouwens de instructies verkeerd gelezen. Maar uithalen was er nog niet van gekomen. Voor een nieuw project is dat altijd gemakkelijker. Ik ben al serieus opgeschoten in de eerste tip. Ik denk niet dat het zal lukken om met twee sjaals het tempo van de tips vol te houden. Morgen komt de volgende er al aan. Maar ik ben wel benieuwd hoe het verder zal evolueren. Een kleur en lace, dus licht en echt lente. En malabrigo voelt zo zacht, mmm...


Slowly I also felt the need to cast on for 1B. How could I resist? My stash had some malabrigo lace yarn, bought in 2010 for another KAL but never finished because of the errors in it. Frogging for a new project is fun. It's lace which have not been tested yet for this pattern but there are options to make it larger and it will be light and ready for spring, I'm sure. I'm almost there with the first clue, I don't think I can keep up with the rythm to finish two shawls during this MKAL but for now it is great fun and malabrigo is so soft... mmmm.
